It is
noticeable that most of ‘The Company’ themselves had connections with the world
of revue (or if they didn’t would soon acquire them): Marilyn Cutts was one of the founder
members of the group Fascinating Aida, Christopher Luscombe was
the co-author of The Shakespeare Revue (in which he also
performed), Jessica Martin went on to perform in and writer material for
a revue called Let’s Kick Arts which played The Bridewell
Theatre (in its professional days) and later toured. While Louise Gold comes
from a family tradition of revue; her parents met and Unity
theatre and were both involved with amateur revue for a start; Her father
had previously written material for the International Youth Centre (most
notably IYC Revue 52); While her mother (besides notable
involvement with Unity’s all female revue troupe known as The Amazons) also appeared professionally an ENSA
revue. Louise herself has kept up the tradition, having been roped into
appearing with The Fall Out Group. Louise has of
course also appeared professionally in revue, in Noel/Cole: Let’s Do It, and Side By Side By Sondheim.

As this was a
radio show about Revue, it is perhaps worth including a link to a page about a noteworthy actress and pro-feminist lyricist in the
world of amateur revue at London’s Unity Theatre
in the 1940s. For further details please click here
